Gmail users can call or video chat with other Gmail users for free but with the introduction of Gmail Call, Gmail users now have the liberty to call phone numbers directly from their Gmail window. Calls to US and Canada will be free for this year but calls to other countries will be charged at low rates.
Google has made a provision for Voice users as well as they’ll also be able to make and receive calls from the Gmail window.
The service is currently open for US-based Gmail users.
